JR Yamanote Line Marianne Faithful

Tokyo's JR Yamanote Line is Tokyo's main travel artery. It is a loop line made up of 29 stations that circles the center of the metropolis, making it Tokyo's most important. A complete loop will take you about an hour.

On-train announcements are made in both Japanese and English. However, a particular quirk of the Yamanote line's English announcements is the sexy, slightly forlorn, croak in the female announcer's voice, making her somewhat reminiscent of the British singer Marianne Faithful.

So, turn down the lights, loosen your collar and scroll down to listen to this mp3 of that unmistakable voice requesting that you please observe seating courtesies.
