Nippori Station is a major rail hub north west of Ueno and the main access station for visiting the historic area of Yanaka nearby.
Nippori Station is a major intersection of the JR and Keisei lines. The JR Yamanote, Joban, and Keihin-Tohoku Lines and the Keisei Main Line for Ueno, Aoto, Funabashi, and Narita Airport intersect at Nippori Station. The Nippori-Toneri Liner operated by Toei runs 10km on elevated track from Nippori to Minumadai-shinsuikoen.
The Keihin-Tohoku Line connects Nippori to Tokyo, Shinagawa, Kawasaki and Yokohama stations.
Nippori Station is a short walk from Nishi-Nippori Station, which is also on the JR Yamanote Line, Nippori-Toneri Liner Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line and the Chiyoda Line of the Tokyo subway which connects with Shin-Ochanomizu Station and on to Omotesando.
Outside the main exit of Nippori Station there are a number of bus routes: #48 to Minumadai Shinsui Koen, #08 to Tobu Asakusa Station and Kinshicho Station, #22 to Mikawashima Station, Hyakkaen Gardens, and Kameido Station and the #47 to Mikawashima Station, Toritsu Kokukosen (Tokyo Metropolitan College of Aeronautical Engineering) and Minami Senju Station East Exit.
A short walk from the main exit of Nippori Station is Nippori Fabric Town with a concentration of fabric and clothes shops with a real downtown Tokyo atmosphere.
Around Nippori Station
Nippori Station is very close to Yanaka Cemetery and the historic temples and shrines around Fujimizaka. There is a viewing platform at the station for good sightings of the various trains using the station known as Shimogoinden Train Museum.
