Kigami Shrine

Kigami Shrine (城上神社) is located in the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Iwami Ginzan in Shimane Prefecture. The prsent buildings of Kigami Shrine date to 1812 and the shrine is dedicated to the deity Oomononushi (aka Ookuninushi). The purpose of the shrine was to bring prosperity to the silver mine. Kigami Shrine has a noted mural of a dragon on its ceiling where the tradition is to clap your hands four times and listen to the echo.
