The Akiyoshi Cavern (Akiyoshi-do; 秋芳洞) in Yamaguchi prefecture is located midway between Hagi and Yamaguchi city. The Akiyoshi Plateau is the largest limestone karst plateau in Japan. The Akiyoshi Cavern, the largest limestone cave in Japan, is situated 100m underground and visitors can see a 1km stretch of the cave.
