Kansai International Airport Hotel Accomodation

Kansai International Airport (KIX or "Kanku" in Japanese) is located on an artificial island south of Osaka city. There is only one hotel located at the airport itself, the upmarket, five star and highly-recommended Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport, which is within walking distance of the passenger terminals.

Stay here if you can afford it and do not wish to travel.

Across the causeway on the mainland there are a number of cheaper options most of which have quick and easy free shuttle services to the airport: the Kansai Airport Washington Hotel, the Bellevue Garden Hotel, and the Best Western Hotel Kansai Airport are the nearest.

Other hotels within 30 minutes by shuttle bus of KIX include Hotel The Next Kanku, Hotel Sunroute Kanku Osaka, APA Hotel Kanku Kishiwada and the APA Hotel Sakai-Ekimae. Except for the hotel in Sakae the others are in rather unprepossesing semi-industrial suburbs, though are fine for an overnight stay, if all you need to do is sleep.

If you have the time and energy to experience something of Osaka city proper, there is a cluster of hotels surrounding Tennoji Station in the south of the city, which is handy for trains to Kansai International Airport (KIX).

Hotels range from the luxurious, 4-star Sheraton Miyako (which has a bus connection with the airport) to the more economical APA Hotel Tennouji-Ekimae.
