Kyoto Guide: Ritz-Carlton Hotel
Kyoto Area Guide: Ritz-Carlton Hotel
The new, luxurious, five star Ritz-Carlton Kyoto lies on the west bank of the Kamo River, just north of Nijo in downtown Kyoto, commanding superb views of the river and the hills of Higashiyama from its stylish rooms.
The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto opened in 2014 and was built on land previously occupied by the former Fujita Hotel. Deliberately low-rise, the Ritz-Carlton Kyoto is designed to resemble a traditional Kyoto residence with traditional aesthetics foremost in the architectural style.
The interior design is inspired by the classic Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu with local artists recreating the Heian Period atmosphere of Price Genji's house within the hotel.
Each room boasts a marble bathroom in cherry blossom design, flat-screen TV, mini bar and Blu-ray DVD player.
The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto as a whole has a number of delicious eateries serving traditional Kyoto kaiseki, sushi, tempura and tenpan. La Locanda serves Italian cuisine with local Japanese ingredients, while guests can also enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea in the lobby lounge and a drink in the hotel bar.
The hotel has a fitness center and spa as well as four banquet and meeting rooms.
The hotel can also help you plan your visit to Kyoto's many attractions or arrange for a private tour.
