Kansai International Airport Arrival & Departure Information 関西国際空港
Kansai International Airport (KIX) - sometimes referred to as "Kanku" - is the major international airport in the Kansai region. The large cities of Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto all have direct links to the off-shore airport, built on an artificial island created by landfill similar to the later Centrair Airport serving Nagoya and central Japan.
Transport links to and from KIX include the Nankai express train to Namba Station, on the Midosuji subway line (38 minutes); JR express trains (kanku kaisoku) connect the airport to Shin Osaka Station and the shinkansen, Kyobashi Station, JR Namba Station and Tennoji Station (53 minutes).
To Kyoto Station, the Haruka airport express train takes 75 minutes to KIX. From Kyoto the first train is at 5.45am and the last train from KIX is at 10.18pm. A cheaper, though slower option is to take a JR kaisoku train to Shin Osaka Station and change for a regular express train to KIX.
There are also limousine buses to the airport from the south side of Kyoto Station (2 hours); the MK Taxi company operates a shared taxi van service from your home in Kyoto to the airport. Call 075 721 2237 in advance to reserve a seat.
Book airport transfer to or from Kansai International Airport. Your driver will be waiting for you as you exit the baggage claim. Pick up from your home or hotel in Osaka.
There is an express ferry service between KIX and Kobe Airport taking about 30 minutes between the two. The first departure from KIX is at 6.30am with the last at midnight. The one-way fare is 1,800 yen single; return is 3,000 yen.
