Michelin Three Stars: Kikunoi Honten 菊の井本店

Kikunoi Restaurant, Kyoto

Third-generation chef-owner Yoshihiro Murata is a star on the Kyoto culinary scene.

Partly because of his television appearances, he is also nationally famous.

Once you arrive at Kikunoi, you will be seated in a private room and served course after course, as many as 14.

The restaurant is spacious, with rooms that can seat up to 30 people. There are a total of eleven rooms.

The name itself - kiku no i - literally means "the water well of the chrysanthemum" - is said to come from a well whose waters bubbled up like a chrysanthemum.
