Visa Information Korea: In brief

Most visitors to South Korea for sightseeing or transit with confirmed outbound air tickets will be issued a non-extendable 30-day transit visa on arrival, except nationals from the following countries who need a visa before arriving in Korea:

Cuba, Laos and Cambodia.

Since January 2012, all visitors are electronically fingerprinted and photographed on entry to South Korea as in neighboring Japan.

Visa applications should be made at the Korean embassy or consulate with the following documentation: passport, application forms, and a recent passport-style color photograph.

Visa fees are as follows:
a. Single entry visa for a stay of no more than 90 days : USD30
b. Single entry visa for a stay of more than 90 days : USD50
c. Multiple entry visa : USD80
d. Prolongation of re-entry permit : USD20

All nationals who wish to stay in Korea for longer than 30 days and who are planning to travel back and forth between Korea and Japan will need a multiple-entry visa.

Korean Tourist Visa Stamps

No visa fees required from certain countries including:
UK, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Liberia and Colombia.

Nationals from the following countries with visa exemption or reciprocal agreements with South Korea will be given a 90-day (3 month permit), 60-day (2 month permit) or 30-day (1 month permit) on arrival. Citizens of Canada receive a 180-day (6 month permit):
