Why use this pass?

● Complete access to the Kansai (Kyoto, Osaka and Nara), Hiroshima (Miyajima), Fukuoka, and Kanazawa areas, with unlimited rides on the Shinkansen and Thunderbird lines for consecutive 7 days

● Convenient travel to and from Kyoto, Osaka from Kansai International airport (KIX) with the Haruka Airport Express (with Hello Kitty decor)

● This pass covers the Sanyo Shinkansen (Shin-Osaka⇔Hakata), Hokuriku Shinkansen and the Thunderbird  (Kanazawa, Toyama⇔Kyoto Osaka) and Miyajima ferry (Miyajimaguchi⇔Miyajima)

Rideable trains with JR West All Area Pass

- The Bullet Train "SANYO SHINKANSEN" (Shin-OsakaHakata) (reserved seating available). 

(The Shinkansen between Kyoto and Shin-Osaka cannot be used with this pass. You'll need to board a local train to go from Kyoto station to Shin-Osaka (25 minutes regularity every 10 minutes) and then change trains in Shin-Osaka to board the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka -> Hiroshima.)

- Bullet Train “Hokuriku Shinkansen (Kanazawa⇔Joetsu-Myoko)

           ※From March 16th 2023 with the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Tsuruga, this pass will also  cover the route between Tsuruga and Kanazawa.

- The pass can be used to ride the "Hello Kitty" Shinkansen

- THUNDERBIRD (Osaka Kyoto<>Kanazawa)

           ※From March 16th 2023 with the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Tsuruga, this pass will cover the route between Osaka Kyoto<>Tsuruga.  To take the Thunderbird, you MUST make a reservation in advance.

- Other express trains (HARUKA, KUROSHIO, KOUNOTORI, SUPER HAKUTO (Kyoto⇔Kamigori), etc.) (available with a reserved seat ticket). * An additional fee is required for traveling on the SUPER HAKUTO (Kamigori⇔Tottori) and SUPER INABA (Kamigori⇔Tottori) trains

- Special Rapid Services, Rapid Services, and Local trains on JR-WEST Conventional lines

- JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY (Miyajimaguchi⇔Miyajima)

- The pass is only valid on WEST JAPAN JR BUS route buses within the valid area. The pass cannot be used on expressway buses.

  • The trains below cannot be used
    • - Bullet Train "TOKAIDO SHINKANSEN" (Shin-Osaka⇔Tokyo)
    • - Bullet Train "KYUSHU SHINKANSEN" (Hakata⇔Kagoshima-Chuo)
    • - Paid seating services, such as A-seats, on Local, Rapid, and Special Rapid trains in the Kansai area.

How can I use the JR West All Area Pass?

1. Once the pass is purchased, you will receive an e-voucher within 5 business days to your email address.

           ※The e-voucher must be exchanged within 3 months of reception. Please check the expiration date on your voucher.

2.  Please exchange your e-voucher to receive the physical ticket at one of the locations below:

While exchanging the voucher, you will be asked to choose the pass activation date, it can be any date from the exchange date to up to 30 days in the future.


How do I reserve a seat?

You can board any train without booking a seat, including the Shinkansen (using the “non-reserved” seat cars). 

However, if you wish to reserve a seat, this can be done at a green ticket vending machine or a station ticket office AFTER exchanging the e-voucher for the pass.


Cancellation Policy

  • The voucher can be refunded if it has never been exchanged in Japan.
  • cancellation fee of 15% of the value of the voucher will be retained.
  • No refund is possible for a voucher if requested more than one year after the date of issue.
  • No refund is possible for a lost or stolen pass.
